Although the US and Japan are amongst those at highest risk to an economic loss, their societies are resilient enough to bend, and not break, suggest the authors.
Tiger numbers on the rise in India

According to a new official census released in Delhi today, the tiger population in India has increased to 1,706 - up from 1,114 in 2008. The report was published during the International Conference on Tiger Conservation (ICTC) taking place in Delhi this week, and the purported figures suggest that numbers may have risen for the first time in a decade.
Five Lost Frogs Rediscovered

Five species of frog, some unseen for 136 years, have been rediscovered in India. Amphibians of India aims to rediscover 50 species of Indian amphibians that are considered to be actually, or potentially, extinct in the wild. These are the so-called lost species. Launched in December 2010, it is an ambitious campaign led by the University of Delhi in conjunction with the IUCN and Conservation International.
Aircraft engine wash system reduces carbon dioxide emissions

Air India has announced significant reductions in carbon dioxide emissions after using engine washing technology developed by an American company. The airline says that it has performed 124 washes using Pratt amp;amp; Whitneys EcoPower technology, saving more than 540,000 gallons of fuel worth $1.9 million and reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 5,300 metric tons.
